I love it, particularly the character's posture and expression. The contrast of the background with the burning barrel is nice, too. I think, in general, that the artwork is too blurry/smudgy, especially if I inspect the small details, like the objects in bottom right, or the towers in the top left. But overall, it's a really good picture of a post-apocalyptic scene.

Welcome to Newgrounds!

Thank you!

I can't even begin to describe how great this is. Seriously.
I can't take my eyes off Ness, the tent, Paula… you keep discovering more in every bit of it. Even though I like the game for various reasons, the main characters don't quite show emotions directly (with their permanent smiles). This takes the already impressive scene, fills all the missing pieces we couldn't imagine back then and presents it just beautifully.

If I ever looked for the definition of perfect, this would be it.

Moonshen responds:

Thanks for your words! Yes the lack of expressions in the game made me feel really anxious about putting some in a fanart :) Its incredible how good the game is without showing much personality on its chars.

You know, they are all genuinely very nice drawings with interesting lore behind them, but in my opinion, the frame (and possibly the name) is distracting from it. It's a very sharp colour (and style) contrast from the rest of the drawing. Like here – the background is bluish, but the frame is vividly pink with flashy red/yellow name tag. Personally, I'd get rid of both (we can read the name in the title).

GearGades responds:

This is how he is kinda portrait in the comic (FYI, had not read it, as I got no way to get it) as urLii lives in the Caves of Grot and doesn't seem to leave them. Only the Maudra of the Grottan knows he is there.

As for the names, is kinda a force of Habit of mine.

The models are perfect. But I think the bark texture of the log on the stand is perhaps a bit too stretched. Also, the wooden planks of the stand look too clean and polished. These stands are often handmade from leftovers; this looks like brand new from a shop. It would also gradually get dirtier and darker if you left it in a shed, or outside exposed to the elements. So if you want to put this into a game, take the environment into account, so it doesn't look out of place.

It's pretty good, but I don't think it truly captures the spirit of the character; the intimidating, chosen warrior. He looks more like a member of the royalty than a soldier.

But I really like the contrast with your other piece, The Hollow Knight.

Edit:
For the transition animation, you could probably use any program which allows you to edit GIFs, for example Photoshop, After Effects; or ScreenToGif, probably GIMP…
Look for "crossfade animation".

This is a relatively simple trick, so you might even use an online editor like this one: https://ezgif.com/maker
Upload the two images, increase the time delay and make sure you tick "Effects / crossfade frames" and it should do what you want.

lillysapphire55 responds:

Thank you for the feedback! I wanted to make this into a gif/animation where it goes between The Pure Vessel and The Hollow Knight, however I couldn't due to not knowing what program to use. Hence why the similar/same poses. Next time when I draw The Pure Vessel, I will try to make him look similar to how you described him

Once again, thank you for your feedback! :)

Edit:
Oh alright, I'll make sure to look over those options. Thank you

I think it looks great. I would definitely play it if it was a real game.
Only the text doesn't look quite as recognisable. Mainly, it's too big. For example, compare with:

AceBonanza responds:

Thanks, and yeah you're absolutely right. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind and fix the text size on the next one!

Wow, nice job, especially with the red/blue lights and their combinations. The line in the description fits very nicely with the theme.
I think the full-scale picture doesn't look very appealing composition-wise, I prefer zooming in to the central part (roughly between the burning barrel and the two red lights) – the close-up looks overall more interesting because you notice all those little details and the story the picture is telling. I'm also not sure about the perspective of the tipped-over bus in the bottom right corner, too; it seems a bit off.

LucasDash responds:

Thank you bro.

Pretty good at first glance, but if you look closer, the borders of the pixel art have some low-res/compression artifacts and the fire is quite blurry. True pixel art should always be sharp.

Different elements of the drawing have also slightly different size of pixels (e.g. the characters vs the shockwave) – it's inconsistent. Similarly, mixing traditional art with pixel art in one picture usually comes across as a bit odd.

Pretty good, especially when I zoomed in to see the detail of the eyes, but the watermark across the entire picture kind of ruins it.

I like it! Maybe except the bloodstream at the very top; it's too straight in comparison with the rest of the drawing. It looks less like a flow of blood and more like a ray of red light to me.

VicDromer responds:

Thank you so much!! ^^

You're right, when yesterday Uploaded it I see the red light, maybe I should change it and reupload it ^^Uu
